“Good character” – Ex-AC Milan star praises Victor Osimhen for leading Batshuayi to honour late fan

Former AC Milan defender Ümit Davala has heaped praise on Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen for his kind gesture during Galatasaray SK's match against Bodrumspor, according to Soccernet. Osimhen, who recently equalled Segun Odegbami's long-standing goal record for Nigeria, led teammate Michy Batshuayi to a banner honoring the late Yiğit Kurt, a 9-year-old Galatasaray fan who tragically died while traveling to support the team in a Europa League match against Tottenham.

Davala, a Galatasaray legend, was impressed by Osimhen's sportsmanship and character, saying: "Osimhen directed Batshuayi to the banner of the late Yiğit Kurt when he scored the goal. His footballing skills are okay, but his personality and humanity made me very happy. Galatasaray has really acquired a very good character."

The banner, displayed during the match at the Bodrum Stadium, was a poignant tribute to Yiğit Kurt, who had been a dedicated Galatasaray fan. Osimhen's gesture, leading Batshuayi to the banner after scoring the winning goal, was a touching moment that resonated deeply with the fans and Davala.

"Osimhen's action was a beautiful gesture, and it shows that he is not only a talented footballer but also a kind and compassionate person," Davala added. "It's not every day that you see a player take the time to honor a young fan who has passed away. Osimhen's character shines through in moments like these."

Osimhen's goal, assisted by Dries Mertens, secured a 1-0 victory for Galatasaray, but it was his post-match gesture that stole the headlines. The Nigerian forward has been in impressive form this season, and his goal record for Nigeria has made him a national hero.

Man City XI vs Feyenoord: Predicted lineup, confirmed team news and injuries for Champions League game today

Pep Guardiola may make changes as Manchester City look to turn things around when they play Feyenoord in the Champions League tonight.

City have now lost five games in a row across all competitions for the first time since 2006, culminating with a humbling 4-0 home loss to Tottenham at the weekend.

They also shipped four in their previous Champions League outing, as Sporting Lisbon thumped them in Portugal, and City will need to refocus to avoid another damaging defeat in this new league phase.

Asked if he will change his approach for the visit of the Dutch side, Guardiola told reporters: "What should I change? If I had changed in my first season when I was asked to change, we would not have won six Premier Leagues in seven years.

Injured players have to come back to their best form, players need rest, one good result can change our mind

Pep Guardiola

"Now I'm not going to change. We are big believers in the process and the fundamentals we have to do. Injured players have to come back to their best form, players who have played a lot of minutes because of the injuries need rest, one good result can change our mind."

There has been little improvement on the injury front for City, though Kevin De Bruyne came off the bench against Spurs and should start in midweek. Jeremy Doku could also come in after returning to training on Monday alongside Ruben Dias, which may see Savinho make way.

Nathan Ake is also pushing for a start, with John Stones most likely to make way, and Matheus Nunes could come in for Rico Lewis, who has struggled in midfield. City remain without the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Oscar Bobb and Rodri.

Predicted Man City XI: Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Ake, Gvardiol; Nunes, Gundogan; Doku, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland

Doubts: Doku, Dias

Injured: Rodri, Bobb, Kovacic

Venue: Etihad Stadium

Raya warns Arsenal team-mates about one Sporting player

Arsenal goalkeeper, David Raya, has warned his team-mates that Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is a “top player in form”.

Raya will be looking to shut out Gyokeres when both sides face each other in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Swede hitman has become one of Europe’s most prolific players after scoring 24 goals in 17 matches this season

“We know his strengths, how he runs a lot in behind and scores a lot in one v. one and he is a top player in form,” Raya said ahead of the game.

“We are going to try and keep him very, very quiet. Don’t give him any chances. We have to step up defensively. Hopefully we can do a great job and keep a clean sheet.”

Liverpool Plot Outstanding Double Signing Of Prem Star And Arsenal Target

Liverpool has made Milos Kerkez and Martin Zubimendi its main targets for 2025 and may make a move as early as January.

Under new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool has been unrelenting in their pursuit of the Premier League championship.

They are assessing the team and determining where they need to make improvements in order to take advantage of the club’s exceptional situation and there is a genuine chance that they will win the Premier League in the Dutchman’s first season as manager.

In order to keep their championship charge, they are attempting to add additional depth and are keeping an eye on two important positions for the January window.

The team wants to increase the number of players in two key positions: full-back, particularly left-back, and another central midfielder, reports Team Talk.

The Anfield team has been keeping a close eye on a number of alternatives and is a huge fan of Milos Kerkez. Many elite teams, including Manchester United, are interested in the Bournemouth player, but Liverpool has seen him as a player who can succeed Robertson.

To support players like Ryan Gravenberch, who has turned into a vital member of the team, a midfielder is also desired.

As was previously reported, Liverpool is keen to add some more talent and wants to sign Martin Zubimendi.

Chelsea consider signing Premier League icon son instead of Arsenal target

According to Metro, Chelsea are considering a move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap after reportedly cooling their interest in Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, who is also a target for Arsenal.

The Blues had targeted a new striker last summer and even sent a delegation to Naples in an attempt to bring Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to Stamford Bridge. However, the deal for Osimhen fell through on transfer deadline day. Despite the setback, Chelsea’s season under manager Enzo Maresca has not suffered due to the failure to sign a new goalscorer.

Chelsea’s season, which many had predicted would be a difficult one, has instead been marked by impressive performances. The club has been one of the Premier League’s most exciting teams, losing only two of their first 12 games and climbing to third place in the table. The previously criticized Nicolas Jackson has found form in front of goal, scoring seven goals in 13 appearances, signaling his potential to be Chelsea's long-term striker.

In spite of Jackson’s recent success, Chelsea is still linked with numerous attacking options, and the latest player to emerge as a target is Delap. The 21-year-old, who is the son of former Stoke City midfielder Rory, joined Ipswich from Manchester City in a £20m move and has since scored six goals in 11 Premier League matches. Delap had been highly regarded by coaches at City but left in search of regular first-team football after making just six appearances over four years at the Etihad. His departure included a buy-back clause in his contract, but Chelsea is reportedly keen on acquiring him, as he is rated “exceptionally highly” by the club’s transfer department.

Despite Ipswich’s difficult start to the season, with only one win since their return to the Premier League, Delap’s individual performances have impressed. His all-round play, work rate, and ability to score goals have caught the attention of rival clubs, including Chelsea, who are seeking younger alternatives to established stars like Osimhen. Although Chelsea may revisit their interest in Osimhen in the coming months, Delap remains a key target as the club looks to strengthen its attacking options.

Under Todd Boehly’s ownership, Chelsea's transfer policy has often been the subject of criticism, but the club’s recent form has suggested that their long-term vision might be paying off. Chelsea currently sits above London rivals Arsenal and just one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League, showing signs of a title challenge after a dismal period in the previous season.

Osimhen, who has been one of the most sought-after strikers in European football, is not the only high-profile forward Chelsea has pursued. They have also been linked with Isak, the Swedish international who has impressed since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022. Isak has scored 40 goals in 78 appearances for the Magpies and has been a key figure in Newcastle's rise under Eddie Howe. His strong performances have not only attracted the attention of Chelsea but also caught the eye of Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, who is looking to bolster his attacking options.

However, despite Chelsea’s interest, they have reportedly cooled their pursuit of Isak. Newcastle remains confident that the striker is happy at St James' Park and settled at the club, dampening any potential transfer rumors for the time being. Chelsea, meanwhile, is focusing on securing a younger forward in Delap, who is seen as a long-term prospect capable of making a significant impact.

Delap’s performance against Manchester United on Sunday, where he failed to add to his goal tally but played a dominant role in helping Ipswich secure a point, only solidified his reputation. After the match, former Premier League player Danny Murphy praised Delap’s potential, describing him as the "obvious long-term successor" to England captain Harry Kane. “He has got a lot of qualities,” Murphy said on Match of the Day.

“I have seen him quite a lot this season and I would probably go as far as to say he is the obvious long-term successor to [Harry] Kane.

I think he is the best young English striker out there.

I know he has got a lot to learn and wisdom comes with experience and game time in this league, but he has got all the attributes to be a top international player.

I just don’t see a weakness for him.

He has scored enough goals in a struggling side really, but if he gets a lot of chances he will score more.

He has just got that lovely balance between physical and technical [ability] and rarely do you get both. He is a super talent.”

In addition to Delap’s goal-scoring ability, his overall technical skills and physicality have made him a highly sought-after prospect.

His performance at Ipswich has demonstrated his ability to adapt to the Premier League, and should Chelsea complete a move for him, he could be a key part of their attacking setup in the coming years.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Delap highlights their focus on securing young, talented players with potential, and his performances this season suggest he could be a star in the making for both club and country.

Man City vs Spurs: Will the Etihad Witness Redemption or Another Upset?

According to report by Daily post news, The stage is set for one of the most anticipated Premier League fixtures of the weekend as Manchester City hosts Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening.

The match, scheduled to kick off at 6:30 pm, will be the final Premier League game of the day. Both teams head into the match looking to bounce back after recent defeats in the league. Manchester City suffered a 2-1 loss to Brighton, while Tottenham fell 2-1 at home to Ipswich Town.

The two sides last met in October during the Carabao Cup, where Tottenham emerged victorious with a 2-1 win in the round of 16. Manchester City will be keen to close the five-point gap between them and Premier League leaders Liverpool when they face Spurs this weekend.

City manager Pep Guardiola will also be aiming to avoid a fifth consecutive defeat. The club has lost its last four matches across all competitions, including defeats to Brighton, Sporting Lisbon, Bournemouth, and Tottenham. Guardiola has confirmed that both Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Dias will miss Saturday's match due to injury.

A victory against Tottenham would reduce Manchester City's deficit to Liverpool to just two points ahead of the Reds' clash with Southampton on Sunday.

Tottenham, currently in 10th place with 16 points from 11 matches, will also be determined to avoid another consecutive loss after their defeat to Ipswich before the international break. Manager Ange Postecoglou will be without key defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven for the trip to City. Romero is still recovering from an injury sustained in Tottenham’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa earlier this month, while Van de Ven is back in training after a hamstring injury but won't be rushed back into action.

A win for Spurs could lift them from 10th position on the Premier League table. Tottenham have already defeated Manchester City in the Carabao Cup this season, and they will be hoping for a repeat performance on Saturday evening.

Chelsea considering signing these two as Osimhen’s replacements

Chelsea are already planning to make some new signings for their manager Enzo Maresca ahead of the January transfer window.

The recent reports disclosed that the Blues are no longer confident about signing Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan with Galatasaray.

According to the reports, the Nigerian star is likely to remain in the Turkey club for the rest of the season and there are also reports them making attempts to sign him permanently.

With this, the Blues’ chances of signing the Napoli striker is low and are said to be searching for alternatives, says journalist Simon Phillips.

The Blues now have their eyes on other replacements across Europe.

The centre-forwards the Blues are considering include Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson and Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap.

While Nicolas Jackson has improved at Stamford Bridge under Maresca this season, there are concerns about Christopher Nkunku’s future at the club, and signing a new No. 9 is on the Blues agenda.

We will have to wait to see who the Blues will submit a bid for between Delap and Ferguson.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will return to action this weekend when they play against Leicester City in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim defends Manchester United squad as he prepares for his first game in charge

Ruben Amorim has publicly defended his Manchester United squad, including winger Antony, as he prepares for his first game in charge against Ipswich Town.

The new head coach, who succeeded Erik ten Hag after his dismissal earlier this season, expressed his faith in the team and his vision to elevate their performance in the league.

At just 39 years old, Amorim brings a wealth of experience, having enjoyed significant success with Sporting CP. His tenure there was marked by the implementation of a 3-4-3 formation that led to two league titles over a four-and-a-half-year period. Now, he aims to inspire a revival at Manchester United.

As the January transfer window approaches, discussions are heating up regarding potential new signings, while also focusing on departures. The club's financial situation may limit its spending, with additional funds potentially generated from player sales.

According to Footballtransfers, United's squad has been facing considerable scrutiny due to their erratic performances, with Antony, in particular, feeling the pressure after not meeting expectations associated with his hefty price tag.

There have even been murmurs suggesting that some players have attempted to influence managerial changes when their discontent with training methods arises.

In light of the criticism, Amorim stated, “I understand that there are doubts surrounding these players, but I have confidence in them. While it may seem impossible to some, I see potential. They are willing to embrace new strategies and are committed to putting in the hard work. Until they demonstrate otherwise, I will continue to believe in their capabilities."

When asked about the players' confidence levels under Ten Hag, Amorim acknowledged, “It’s clear that their faith has wavered, especially when results don't go their way. Doubts creep in when players aren't winning matches. You can see their confidence ebbing away during warm-ups or as they approach the pitch.”

He emphasized the need for support, noting, “The players are equipped to handle the challenges of the Premier League. They might struggle in the first half of a match but can turn things around after the break. It’s crucial they rediscover that winning mindset.”

Amorim also elaborated on his coaching philosophy, asserting, “As the coach, I have a clear direction; I’m all in on my approach. I firmly believe in our style of play. The players will come to share that belief. We're not considering alternate strategies.”

He hinted at some tactical adjustments for the upcoming match, explaining, “We may not see significant changes in the starting lineup, but there will be noticeable differences in gameplay and positioning. That’s where the real shifts will occur.”

With the new coach at the helm, supporters are keenly watching to see how Amorim's vision unfolds on the pitch.

EPL: Manchester United, Eriksen to Part Ways End of Season

Manchester United and Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen are reportedly set to part ways when the current season concludes.

According to a post by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his X handle on Monday, there are no ongoing discussions about extending Eriksen’s contract. Romano added that the opinion of new manager Rúben Amorim will also factor into the decision, but the expectation remains that Eriksen will leave the club.

“No negotiations taking place over a new deal, while Rúben Amorim’s opinion will also be considered, but Eriksen’s expected to leave,” the post stated.

The 32-year-old joined Manchester United as a free agent in 2022, signing a three-year contract. His time at the club has been marked by key contributions, but it now seems his tenure at Old Trafford will end prematurely.

Eriksen recently featured for Denmark in their Nations League clash against Spain, where his side suffered a 2-1 home defeat to the reigning European champions.

Report: Man United star at risk of being offloaded after not convincing new manager Ruben Amorim

Manchester United players are aiming to prove their worth under the leadership of new manager Ruben Amorim as reported by Caughtoffside.

The Portuguese tactician has taken over from Erik ten Hag, with the formidable task of restoring the club’s glory and ending their Premier League title drought, which stretches back to 2013 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Despite numerous managerial changes since Ferguson’s departure, United has struggled to regain their dominance.

Amorim now joins the list of coaches tasked with the high-pressure job of meeting the lofty expectations at one of football’s most historic clubs.

Among those facing an uncertain future is Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee. Reports suggest Juventus are eyeing the striker, who has underwhelmed since arriving at Old Trafford from Bologna during the summer.

Zirkzee has managed just one goal in 11 Premier League appearances this season, a tally that underscores his struggles.

His lone goal came during the season opener against Fulham, and he has since fallen behind Rasmus Hojlund in the pecking order.

Juventus, on the other hand, is reportedly considering Zirkzee as a backup for Dusan Vlahovic.

A potential move could see the Dutchman reunite with Thiago Motta, who previously brought out the best in him at Bologna. The Serie A giants believe Zirkzee’s familiarity with Italian football makes him an ideal candidate.

Additionally, questions surround the future of other United stars, including midfielder Casemiro, who may also face uncertainty under Amorim's regime.

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee suffers fresh blow with Netherlands setback

Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee has been omitted from the Netherlands' matchday squad for their UEFA Nations League fixture against Hungary, set to take place at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam tonight as reported by Manchester Evening News.Despite being included in the 25-man squad announced by Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman last week, Zirkzee failed to make the final 23-man roster.

The 23-year-old, who joined Manchester United from Bologna during the summer transfer window, was dropped alongside Bournemouth attacker Justin Kluivert, following UEFA regulations that mandate teams to submit a trimmed 23-man squad the night before a Nations League game.

Koeman, speaking at a pre-match press conference on Friday, had hinted that two players would be excluded but refrained from disclosing their identities.

Zirkzee, who has only scored once for Manchester United since his move, had participated in last month's international fixtures, starting in the Netherlands’ 1-1 draw against Hungary and making a substitute appearance against Germany days later.

The young forward's international career began during Euro 2024, where he made two substitute appearances, including a semi-final clash against England.

He opened his scoring account for the Netherlands in September, netting in a 5-2 victory over Bosnia during a Nations League encounter.

Despite his struggles to make a mark at Old Trafford, Zirkzee has found support in former United interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.

“Josh is more of a player who is coming toward the ball and gets the team playing,” said Van Nistelrooy earlier this month. “In the Crystal Palace game, I thought he was excellent and showed one of his best performances.”

Zirkzee’s exclusion from the matchday squad will likely raise questions about his form and future opportunities, both for club and country, as he continues to adapt to life in the Premier League.

Manchester United Confirm Five New Additions to Rúben Amorim’s Coaching Staff.

Manchester United have officially announced the appointment of five new coaches who will join Rúben Amorim’s backroom team. The new additions are Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital, Adelio Cândido, Emanuel Ferro, and Paulo Barreira, each bringing their expertise to support Amorim's vision for the team.

Carlos Fernandes and Jorge Vital are expected to take key roles in the technical and tactical development of the squad, while Adelio Cândido and Emanuel Ferro will focus on enhancing team dynamics and individual player performance. Paulo Barreira joins as a specialist coach, likely contributing to fitness and conditioning programs.

The move signals Manchester United's commitment to providing Amorim with a robust and highly skilled coaching team to support his managerial tenure. Amorim, known for his innovative tactics and ability to nurture young talent, will work closely with his new staff to drive United toward their ambitious goals.

Fans will be eager to see how these appointments impact the team's performance as the Red Devils aim for success domestically and in Europe.

Below is the post:

Robin van Persie makes Arsenal return claim amid reflections on Manchester United move

Robin van Persie has ruled out the possibility of a return to Arsenal, citing the lasting impact of his controversial move to Manchester United in 2012 as reported by Manchester World.

The Dutch forward, whose departure from the Gunners remains a contentious topic among many Arsenal fans, admitted that joining a direct rival has likely closed the door on any future association with the club.

“I don’t expect to work at Arsenal. I think that door is closed,” Van Persie said in an interview with Dutch outlet Sportcast.

“Because of my switch to Manchester United, that is my assessment. You never know in football, but that is my assessment.”

Van Persie’s transfer to United, which saw him win the Premier League in his first season at Old Trafford, left a bitter aftertaste for some Arsenal supporters.

However, the former striker acknowledged that while the move still stings for fans, it no longer affects him.

“It is still sensitive for them, not for me. It is especially sensitive for the Arsenal fans,” he stated

During his eight-year stint at Arsenal, Van Persie scored 132 goals and provided 56 assists in 278 appearances. Despite this, his decision to seek glory with United has kept him at odds with parts of the Gunners faithful.

Now 41, Van Persie is focused on his role as the head coach of SC Heerenveen in the Eredivisie, where he is finding fulfillment in his new career path.

He expressed contentment with his current position, saying, “I really enjoy it here, and I am very proud to be the coach of SC Heerenveen. I feel very welcome within the club and among the fans.”

He added, “I have learned that planning so far ahead makes no sense at all. I don’t want that either. I mainly live in the here and now."

"I want to see everyone together in training before deciding on the starting line-up" - Rúben Amorim

Manchester United’s newly appointed manager, Rúben Amorim, has stated that he will hold off on reviewing his starting line-up and tactical plans until the full squad returns from the ongoing international break. Amorim, who recently took over the reins at Old Trafford, is keen to evaluate his players firsthand in training before making critical decisions about the team’s setup.

The Portuguese tactician, known for his success with Sporting CP, was brought in to revitalize United’s fortunes following Erik ten Hag’s departure. With a reputation for developing young talent and implementing high-energy, attacking football, Amorim’s appointment has generated excitement among the club’s supporters. However, he is taking a measured approach as he settles into his new role.

According to Sky news, Amorim explained his rationale for waiting. "The international break is a challenging period for any new manager," he said. "Many of our key players are away, and I want to see everyone together in training before deciding on tactics and the starting line-up. It’s important to understand their individual qualities and how they can contribute to the team."

United currently has several players representing their countries, including Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Lisandro Martínez. Amorim emphasized the importance of patience, noting that his priority is to create a cohesive unit rather than rushing into decisions.

During the break, Amorim has been working with the remaining players at Carrington, focusing on building relationships and instilling his philosophy. Early reports suggest that he is keen to implement a flexible, high-pressing style of play that emphasizes quick transitions and creativity in attack.

"Man United Have Found the Best Coach in the World" - Ex Madrid Man Makes Claim About Ruben Amorim

Former Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao has lavished praise on new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, describing him as the "best manager in the world, by far", according to Sportskeeda. Coentrao's glowing endorsement stems from their shared experiences playing for Benfica and the Portuguese national team.

Speaking at an event, Coentrao expressed his delight at Amorim's appointment at Old Trafford, saying: "Sporting have lost a very important player, but I am happy for Ruben. He deserves this and much more. Manchester United have found the best manager in the world… by far."

Coentrao's praise is significant, given his personal connection with Amorim. The pair played 57 matches together for club and country, providing valuable insight into Amorim's character and abilities.

Amorim's managerial credentials support Coentrao's claim. The 39-year-old achieved remarkable success with Sporting, winning two Portuguese league titles and leaving the club top of the standings this season. His ability to adapt and replicate this success at Manchester United will be crucial in revitalizing the Red Devils.

Manchester United's decision to appoint Amorim follows the sacking of Erik ten Hag in late October. The Dutchman's tenure was marked by a poor start to the campaign, leaving the team 13th in the Premier League. Amorim faces a daunting task in turning the club's fortunes around, but Coentrao's endorsement suggests he has the necessary skills.

Amorim's influence is already being felt, with speculation surrounding potential transfers. Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has scored 23 goals in 18 matches, has drawn interest from top European clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal. Amorim has hinted that Gyokeres will remain at Sporting until the end of the season, potentially opening up a summer move to Old Trafford.

Ben Foster details what Robert Sanchez should have done to save Martinelli’s shot against Arsenal

Former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster expressed disappointment with Chelsea's Robert Sanchez, pointing to his performance against Arsenal, according to Chelsea News.

Sanchez’s positioning during Arsenal’s goal, Foster stated, could have been more assertive, adding, “I don’t like the way he automatically reverted to a spread instead of actually backing himself, I am going to react to something,” he told The Football Fill-In.

Chelsea secured a valuable point against Arsenal, temporarily placing them third in the Premier League standings. Despite their strong start to the season, Sanchez, Chelsea's first-choice goalkeeper, has faced ongoing scrutiny.

The club opted to prioritize Sanchez as their main goalkeeper this summer, even with the arrival of Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal.

However, Sanchez has made multiple errors this season, notably conceding twice against Brighton and allowing a penalty against Manchester United.

He also came under criticism for Curtis Jones’ goal at Anfield, where many felt he could have shown better judgment.

Among fans the consensus is that Sanchez may not be the right fit for Chelsea’s ambitions.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer stated that if the team is to compete for top honors, “the Blues need to replace the Spaniard.”

Leny Yoro Speaks On Bond With Manchester United Teammates

Leny Yoro, a young talent in the Manchester United ranks, recently opened up about his close-knit relationships within the team. While Yoro maintains positive connections with all his teammates, he tends to spend the most time with younger players like Kobbie Mainoo and Amad. These friendships allow him to share experiences and navigate the challenges of top-level football alongside players in a similar stage of their careers.

Additionally, Yoro frequently connects with goalkeeper André Onana, as the two share a common language, French. This shared language fosters a natural bond and allows for comfortable communication, further integrating Yoro into the team dynamics. Yoro also mentioned his camaraderie with Alejandro Garnacho, whom he described as a “good guy.” For Yoro, it’s clear that the entire squad contributes to an inclusive and supportive environment.

His remarks reveal how language, age, and shared experiences bring players together, creating a strong foundation for teamwork and cohesion. Yoro’s relationships on and off the pitch underscore the importance of unity in fostering success.

If Jose Mourinho doesn't like it, he can leave!' - Fenerbahce boss torn apart by Galatasaray star for 'smells bad' rant against Turkish football as outspoken Portuguese flirts with Premier League return

Galatasaray captain Fernando Muslera slammed Jose Mourinho for his rant against Turkish football and urged him to leave the Super Lig.

Galatasaray captain slams Mourinho
Portuguese coach ranted against Turkish football
Linked with a move to Newcastle and Everton
WHAT HAPPENED?

Mourinho, who moved to Turkey and took the Fenerbahce managerial role this summer, is already contemplating leaving the Turkish Super Lig. Earlier this month, the outspoken Portuguese coach slammed Turkish football and launched the infamous 'smells bad' rant for which he was handed a hefty fine and a ban.

THE BIGGER PICTUREThe former Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid manager's comment has ticked off Uruguay international and Galatasaray captain Fernando Muslera who has advised Mourinho to leave the country if he dislikes their football. The 61-year-old has been linked with a move back to the Premier League with Newcastle United and Everton reportedly interested in securing his services.

WHAT FERNANDO MUSLERA SAID

Speaking to Turkiye Today, the 38-year-old goalkeeper said, "The insults towards Turkish football and the fact that he is attacking some referees are things that bother me. This is the first time in 14 years that I feel obliged to make such a speech. I won 17 trophies in 14 years. If we consider my contribution, my constant aim is to advance Turkish football.

"If Mourinho, who came here four months ago, criticises Turkish football and doesn't like it, he can leave. Although nobody says anything, I think now someone can say something to him. We need to pay a little more attention to those who move Turkish football forward."

WHAT NEXT FOR JOSE MOURINHO?
For now, the veteran coach stays in Turkey and his team will be next seen in action this Friday as Fenerbahce are set to face Zenit St Petersburg in a friendly match during the international break. They return to competitive football on November 23 with a Super Lig clash against Kayserispor.

Erling Haaland is outperforming his xG but not as much as several other players in the Premier League

Asked to think of the best finisher in the Premier League and the answer would nearly always be Erling Haaland.

The Manchester City striker is having another prolific season and has already netted 11 times in the Premier League, including the opener as Pep Guardiola’s side suffered their fourth successive defeat in all competitions at Brighton at the weekend.

The Norway international is equally adept with his right foot, left foot and in the air and has been a large part of City’s successes over the past couple of seasons.

However, if you analyse the data for this term, you certainly cannot claim Haaland is among the top 10 most deadly players in the Premier League.

So, who ranked above him?

Using Opta data, available on www.theanalyst.com, we have compared players’ number of goals to their xG, not including penalties.

The greater the difference, the better they have been at scoring the more difficult opportunities.

Surprisingly, Haaland comes in in 38th place. His 11 goals have come about from an xG of 10.30, meaning he has scored 0.7 goals more than expected from the chances he has had.

So, who makes up the top five in the Premier League?

5. Yoane Wissa – 2.53 Goals v xG

Wissa is one of the more underrated players in the Premier League but has emerged as a key part of Thomas Frank’s free-scoring Brentford side.

The DR Congo international netted twice in the Bees’ 3-2 win at home to Bournemouth on Saturday to take his tally for the season from open play to seven, achieved from an xG of just 4.47.

Wissa has now scored 15 non-penalty goals in the Premier League in 2024, second only to Haaland (20).

4. Matheus Cunha – 2.64 Goals v xG
Wolves may be struggling but the Brazilian is having a stand-out season.

His superb long-range strike against Southampton on Saturday enabled Wolves to register their first Premier League win of 2024-25 and continued his impressive individual form.

Cunha has scored five non-penalty goals this season in the top flight, from an xG of 2.36.

3. Chris Wood – 3.28 Goals v xG
The first of two recognised number nines on the list, Wood has excelled in Nottingham Forest’s surprise start to the season.

The New Zealander has netted eight times, including one from the spot, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men sitting in fifth heading into the international break.

Tho non-penalty goals have come from an xG of 3.72, perfectly demonstrating Wood’s poaching instincts.
2. Liam Delap – 3.6 Goals v xG
Eyebrows were raised when Ipswich handed Manchester City a fee rising to £20million for a player who scored just eight goals on loan at Championship side Hull City last season.

But Delap is already looking a shrewd investment with six goals in 11 games for the Tractor Boys, including what turned out to be the winner in their 2-1 victory at Tottenham on Sunday.

A bustling centre-forward, Delap’s six goals have come about from an xG of just 2.4.
1. Bryan Mbeumo – 3.7 Goals v xG
Mbeumo tops our list but, sometimes, statistics can be misleading!

The Brentford man, who can play anywhere across the front three, has been in blistering form this season with six non-penalty goals, and two from the spot, to take his tally to eight overall from an xG of just 2.3

Remarkable numbers, yes, and the Cameroonian is undoubtedly one of the Premier League’s best players at the minute.

But the most clinical this season? Statistically yes, but in reality, probably not and that’s due to his goal against Ipswich, a last-gasp winner that was undoubtedly a cross that drifted all the way in.

That ‘opportunity’ had an xG of 0.02, skewing the figures.

Top Contenders to Replace Pep Guardiola at Man City if the Catalan decides to move on

As Manchester City continues to dominate English football under the brilliant leadership of Pep Guardiola, fans and pundits are already speculating about the next manager to take the reins when the time comes for Pep to move on. The pressure of leading a world-class club like City demands a combination of tactical mastery, player management, and the ability to maintain the club’s success. While Guardiola’s departure is not imminent, here are four names that have emerged as possible successors: Xabi Alonso, Xavi, Michel, and Zinedine Zidane.

1. Xabi Alonso
Xabi Alonso has quickly become one of the most exciting young managerial talents in European football. After a successful playing career with clubs like Real Madrid, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich, Alonso has transitioned seamlessly into management. His tenure at Bayer Leverkusen has been impressive, with the team showing tactical discipline and a clear playing style under his guidance.

What makes Alonso a prime candidate for the Manchester City job is his footballing intelligence, understanding of Guardiola’s philosophy, and ability to inspire his players. Alonso’s calm demeanor, combined with his tactical acumen, makes him a natural successor to the meticulous Guardiola. Given his ties to both Real Madrid and Liverpool, Alonso also understands the demands of top-tier football and could handle the pressure of managing a club like City with ease.

2. Xavi Hernandez

Xavi Hernandez, former Barcelona manager, is another name that could potentially take over at Manchester City. Having been deeply influenced by Guardiola during his playing career, Xavi has shown that he has inherited many of his former mentor’s tactical philosophies. His just past managerial tenure at Barcelona showed him implement a style of play that mirrors the possession-based, high-pressing football Guardiola is known for although it did not work out well at the end.

Xavi’s understanding of City’s style of play and his vision for developing young talent aligns well with the club’s long-term goals. Though his former role at Barcelona has its challenges, his growing managerial reputation could make him a strong contender for the Manchester City job. With a wealth of experience in one of the most successful football clubs in the world, Xavi could be the one to continue Guardiola's legacy at Manchester City

3. Michel:
Michel, the current Girona Manager in La iga is another exciting prospective candidate for the Manchester City Job if Guardiola leaves. The Spaniard led Girona to Champions League place finish last season and although the team who is under Manchester City Group of clubs are struggling this season, Michel's managerial abilities have not gone unnoticed.

In another scenario, He is the prime candidate to take over from Guardiola due to City's connection with Girona but the Spaniard still has a long way to go to prove himself and his capabilities as a top level Manager.

4. Zinedine Zidane:

Zinedine Zidane’s name often comes up when discussions turn to potential managerial changes at top clubs. Having won three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid, Zidane is no stranger to success on the biggest stages. His calm, charismatic presence in the dressing room, along with his ability to manage superstar players, makes him an ideal candidate for Manchester City.

While Zidane has been out of management since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, his track record speaks for itself. His ability to handle egos, navigate high-pressure situations, and deliver results would be invaluable at City. Zidane’s experience managing some of the best footballers in the world could make him the perfect fit for a squad filled with stars, including Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, and Jack Grealish.

Why These Managers?

Each of these managers brings something unique to the table, from Alonso’s emerging tactical nous, Xavi’s continuation of Guardiola's legacy, Michel’s adaptability, to Zidane’s winning mentality and vast experience at the top level. While it’s clear that Pep Guardiola has set a high bar at Manchester City, these four candidates offer an exciting future for the club.

Van Nistelrooy eyes permanent Manchester United role

Ruud van Nistelrooy

Interim Manchester United manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has expressed his desire to manage the club permanently in the future. However, the Dutchman remains focused on his current interim role and is set to return to his assistant coach duties once Ruben Amorim officially takes over on Monday.

In his short time as interim manager, Van Nistelrooy has overseen two wins and one draw. He will take charge for the final time on Sunday when United face Leicester in the Premier League, before Amorim steps in to assume control.

The 48-year-old, who won the Dutch Cup in his only season as PSV Eindhoven’s manager, has frequently stated that Manchester United is the only club where he would consider putting his managerial aspirations on hold to serve as an assistant. When asked about managing the club in the future, Van Nistelrooy said, “Yeah, of course. I thought this through well when I made the decision to come to United as an assistant manager. I knew this was a special opportunity, and I wanted to be part of the club’s journey in that capacity.”

Though Van Nistelrooy’s contract with United runs until 2026, there are uncertainties surrounding his future with Amorim set to bring in his own staff. Still, Van Nistelrooy remains determined to ensure a seamless transition. “I called it an important period because I think it was crucial to get through these four games as well as we could,” he explained. “I believe we’ve done well so far, and now we must build on that and deliver on Sunday, with a big game and massive three points to win.”

Although Sunday could mark his second farewell at Old Trafford, Van Nistelrooy is solely focused on ensuring the team is in the best possible shape before handing the baton to Amorim. “I don’t know if it will be very emotional. I take it pragmatically, but I am proud to have fulfilled this role. We’ll see how I feel on Sunday,” he concluded.

What Chelsea star Jadon Sancho is doing before Arsenal speaks volumes after injury update

Chelsea injury news as Jadon Sancho continues his work towards a return having missed the past three games
Jadon Sancho has been out for Chelsea with injury and illness

Jadon Sancho is continuing his attempts to recover from a surprise injury having not played for three matches. Although he was not available for last week's 1-1 draw to Manchester United due to loan rules, Sancho was not fit or well enough to feature anyway.

It has put a brief halt on what had been a sharp start to his life at Chelsea. Sancho assisted three times in his first three Premier League games after coming on to make quite the introduction at Bournemouth in mid-September. That earned him a place in Enzo Maresca's main XI.

However, he struggled to make an impact at home to Nottingham Forest and then away at Liverpool, with Pedro Neto impressing when called on from the bench and in Europe. Sancho has since been forced to sit out, with Mykhailo Mudryk preferred as the second half substitute on the left against Newcastle in the league two weeks ago as well.

As Sancho is on loan at Chelsea, he couldn't play against parent club United last week. He also missed the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle and hasn't been selected for Conference League fixtures either.

"He is recovering from [illness]," Maresca explained, touching on why the 24-year-old has been less visible in recent matches. "He had a knock in the session. He is out for tomorrow [Thursday, vs FC Noah], and we will see if he is available [for Arsenal] or after the international break."

Now, with Chelsea set to welcome Mikel Arteta and Arsenal to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, Sancho is working towards a return. Posting on his Instagram story on Saturday morning, he showed just what he was up to in a bid to get back to the pitch sooner rather than later.

In a short clip of him on a physio's bed, Sancho is seen with his left thigh being pressed in by several compression patches, working the muscles. With little so far being said of the problem picked up, it indicates a muscular issue.
Sancho's illness would appear to have worn off in recent days too. He was part of the supporting group of Chelsea players who attended the match against Noah on Thursday night. Sancho uploaded an image of himself watching on from the stands.

His next step will be to get back out onto the field, playing himself.

Jose Mourinho Identifies EPL club he will leave Fenerbahce to join

Fenerbahce's head coach, Jose Mourinho, is reportedly setting his sights on Newcastle United as a potential destination for his return to the Premier League, particularly if current manager Eddie Howe decides to part ways with the club.

According to Daily post, Mourinho, who has had an illustrious coaching career in England—including multiple tenures at Chelsea, a stint at Manchester United, and a spell at Tottenham—appears eager to embark on his fifth chapter in the English football league. His growing dissatisfaction with his current role in Turkey has prompted him to carefully monitor the situation at St. James' Park.

According to sources from The Guardian, Mourinho has reached out to intermediaries, expressing a desire to stay updated on the latest developments within the club. This reflects not only his ambition to return to the Premier League but also his belief that Newcastle could provide a fitting platform for his skills if circumstances change.

Eddie Howe, who has been at the helm of Newcastle for three years, faces an uncertain future despite his previous successes. Under his leadership, the club managed to qualify for the Champions League group stages last season. However, their current position—sitting 11th in the Premier League table—indicates a significant gap that must be bridged to reclaim their status among the elite clubs in Europe.

Given the unpredictability of managerial positions in football, especially at a club with as much potential as Newcastle, the situation remains fluid. Should Eddie Howe's tenure come to an end for any reason, Mourinho will be poised as a strong candidate to take the reins, bringing his wealth of experience and a proven track record in England's top division. As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Tyneside to see how this narrative unfolds.

Ian Wright and Gary Neville make predictions for Chelsea vs Arsenal clash

Ian Wright has predicted a 2-1 win for Arsenal against Chelsea, emphasizing the importance of a victory for Mikel Arteta's team. Arsenal, currently in fifth place in the Premier League, are looking to bounce back from a disappointing run of results.

Facing the possibility of falling ten points behind leaders Liverpool, Arsenal will need to secure a win at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea, under the management of Enzo Maresca, have shown good form recently, but Arsenal could be boosted by the return of captain Martin Odegaard.

Despite injury concerns for some players, Arteta is confident in his team's ability to perform well against Chelsea. Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville predicts a 1-1 draw for the match, highlighting the competitiveness of the fixture.

After a positive performance against Inter Milan in the Champions League, Arteta believes that if Arsenal replicate that display, they have a good chance of defeating Chelsea. The manager expressed pride in his team's European performance and remains upbeat about their chances in the upcoming derby.

Barcelona See Veteran Star as Untouchable at the Club, Ready to Keep Him Until 2027

Barcelona has made it clear that veteran striker Robert Lewandowski is an indispensable asset to the team, with plans to extend his contract until 2027. According to Sportskeeda, the Polish international's phenomenal form this season has convinced the club's hierarchy to secure his services for an additional two years.

Lewandowski, 36, has been in sensational form, scoring 19 goals and providing two assists in just 16 appearances. His impressive performances have been instrumental in Barcelona's strong start to the season, and the club is eager to reward him with a contract extension.

The striker's current deal is set to expire in 2025, but Barcelona has the option to trigger a one-year extension if he plays half of their matches this season. However, the club is reportedly considering adding another year to the deal, keeping Lewandowski at the Camp Nou until 2027.

Lewandowski's willingness to reduce his wages has also been a significant factor in Barcelona's decision to extend his contract. The veteran striker has demonstrated his commitment to the club, and his desire to continue competing at the highest level.

The arrival of Hansi Flick as manager has been instrumental in Lewandowski's resurgence. The two previously worked together at Bayern Munich, and Flick's tactics have brought out the best in the Polish striker.

Barcelona's decision to keep Lewandowski until 2027 is a testament to his enduring quality and importance to the team. Despite his advancing age, Lewandowski remains one of the most clinical finishers in the world, and his experience will be invaluable in guiding the team's younger players.

The club is also aware of the need to lighten the load on Lewandowski, who will be nearing his 38th birthday by the time his contract expires. To address this, Barcelona is reportedly searching for complementary free agents who can support Lewandowski and share the goal-scoring burden.

As Lewandowski closes in on 100 Champions League goals, joining an elite club alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, his legacy at Barcelona continues to grow. With his contract extension imminent, Lewandowski will remain an integral part of Barcelona's plans for years to come.

Man United eyeing a transfer for Sporting star Geovany Quenda with £84m release clause

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United will begin a new era under Ruben Amorim after the international break, with the Portuguese manager likely to introduce changes to the team’s tactics and personnel.

Amorim prefers to use a three-man defense, a system that United has rarely employed in recent seasons, which could signal significant adjustments in the way the team lines up.

There may also be changes in player personnel, with Amorim potentially looking to bring in reinforcements from his former club, Sporting CP.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United is reportedly "tracking" Sporting winger Geovany Quenda.

The 17-year-old has already earned comparisons to Arsenal's Bukayo Saka, due to his remarkable talent and work ethic.

Quenda recently signed a new contract with Sporting, which runs until 2027, and the club has set his release clause at a substantial £84 million, reflecting their belief in his immense potential.

Sporting is aware that top clubs are keeping a close eye on his progress and have thus ensured that any potential suitor will have to meet the high release fee.

Quenda showcased his talent in Sporting’s 4-1 Champions League win over Manchester City, where he started as a right-wing back.

His performance was instrumental in securing the victory, as he won five out of seven duels, made two tackles, and created a significant chance.

He also provided an assist for Sporting’s equalizer, threading a perfectly weighted pass between two Manchester City defenders to set up Viktor Gyokeres, who sprinted past Ederson.

Since making his debut in August, Quenda has appeared 17 times this season. Although he is more inclined to attack, he has also demonstrated a strong work ethic in tracking back and helping his defense.

This two-way commitment would be a valuable asset to a team like United, which has struggled at the right-wing position despite heavy investments in Antony and Amad Diallo.

Signing Antony has been seen as a poor decision, and Diallo has yet to prove himself consistently at the top level.

Amorim may push the United board to pursue Quenda in the summer, but given the teenager's age and his £84 million release clause, it would be a significant gamble.

While Quenda remains raw and has much to prove, United might not be willing to meet such a high fee.

However, if Sporting were to lower their asking price, United could be open to negotiations.
