NASARAWA UNITED 2-1 GENERATION FOOT: SOLID MINERS SECURE SLIM ADVANTAGE

The host got a late goal against the Senegalese to go into the second leg with a slim advantage in the Caf Confederation Cup

Nasarawa United defeated AS Generation Foot 2-1 in the Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round first round at the Abuja National Stadium.

Goals from Tayo Fabiyi and Seun Sogbeso gave the Lafia based side a slim first leg advantage after Niane got an important away goal for the Senegalese side after beating Danladi Umar.

Fabiyi scored early in the game for the Solid Miners with a superb finish, but the home side could not hold on to the slim lead, as Niane's effort beat Danlami Umar in goal for Nasarawa United.

Nasarawa United started well, showing their intent to score in the early minutes of the game and got reward after seven minutes with Fabiyi’s goal.

The reigning Coupe du Senegal champions reacted immediately and surged forward in an attempt to get the equalizer.

Esosa Igbinoba came close to doubling his side’s advantage in the closing stages of the first half but the goalkeeper did well to deny him.

Niane leveled matters for the visiting team in the 52nd minute while Sogbeseo’s penalty in the closing stages of the game ensured the Lafia side began their campaign on a winning note.

The second leg clash will take place in a fortnight at the Deni Birame Ndao.
