I’m really happy about my Galatasaray decision – Osimhen

According to Punch, Victor Osimhen has expressed satisfaction with his decision to join Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, emphasizing his desire to have control over his future. Reflecting on a summer transfer saga that involved interest from Al-Ahli and Chelsea, Osimhen noted that he was determined to make his own choice rather than let others dictate his career path.

The 25-year-old striker explained that he was prepared to remain at Napoli for an additional three to four months and aim for a transfer to one of his preferred suitors in January. However, he found relief upon receiving the offer from Galatasaray. "I had plans to stay there and wait for three or four months and leave in January, but I think for me it was fair also to stay there because I wouldn’t let anyone decide for me," Osimhen told Turkish media, including TRT Spor, from the Galatasaray training facility.

He added, “It was important for me to stay there since I didn’t get the deserved move that I really preferred." Osimhen was particularly swayed by a conversation with the Galatasaray coach, who articulated his vision for the season and the goals he aimed to achieve. “When I received the call from the Galatasaray coach, it was really convincing. He said what he wanted to do this season and what he wanted to achieve. I could see what he had set for himself as a man, a coach, and a father. I think I fit in with this plan, and coming to a team with already a lot of quality players with great ambition was easy to come to as a footballer.”

Osimhen also expressed admiration for Galatasaray’s serious approach as a club and reflected on the positive implications of his move for both himself and his family. “For me, it was the right decision, but also for my family and my daughter. Coming to a city like Istanbul, one of the best in the world, was easy. So far, so good. I’m really happy about my decision. I want to contribute and win something important here.”

He also referenced the legacy of former Galatasaray star Didier Drogba, stating, “Drogba also played here. I don’t believe there would be another place where I would enjoy it more." Osimhen expressed gratitude towards Galatasaray's fanbase, recalling their warm welcome: “I would like to thank Galatasaray fans, as I remember how they welcomed me.”

As for his performance, Osimhen has made a significant impact at Galatasaray, recording two goals and four assists in his first four games before sustaining an injury during the dramatic 3-3 draw against Kasımpaşa. His two goals for the club came at the end of September in a home match against Kasımpaşa, where he celebrated enthusiastically alongside Mauro Icardi, a former captain of Inter Milan.

In summary, Osimhen's move to Galatasaray appears to be a mutually beneficial decision, as he seeks to build on his success while contributing to a team with high ambitions in one of the world's most vibrant cities.
