The Only Player That Has Registered More Assists For An Elite League So Far This Season

Bukayo Saka of Arsenal has already registered 7 assists in the English Premier League (EPL) so far this term. However, a look at the records of players in the elite European leagues has shown that there is one player that has set up more goals than the England international within the period as per Stathead. Who is this exceptional playmaker?

This to assist provider is Marcus Wendel Valle da Silva (aka Wendel) who plays for Zenit St Petersburg. The midfielder has already set up 8 goals in the Russian Premier League this term. He opened the 2024/25 season with two assists on match day 1. The former Brazil U-23 international began by setting Maksim Glushenkov up for the opener 6 minutes into in the game. He added another one just before the break. Wendel another two in the next game to quadruple his tally. This 27-year-old was again doubly involved in the third match of this season.

This Brazilian provided another assist in game week 7 of the current Russian top flight season. The guy set Luciano Gondou up for the opener in the 30th minute. Interestingly, he scored a goal of his own 9 minutes after the hour. He provided another assist on match day 9 to bring his tally to 8. This is 2 one more than the number of assists credited to Saka within the same period. 

Similarly, Bukayo Saka was the guy that provided the assist for Arsenal's first goal of the current term. He did so when he set Kai Havertz up for a 25th minute goal in the opening game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. This Nigerian-born winger continued to serve as provider for the first five games of the 2024/25 season. Just before the October, 2024 international break, Saka added a brace of assists to his name. This brought his tally to 7 in as many games in the Premiership this term.
