Manchester United enter the race to sign top Real Madrid defensive target

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing to strengthen their defense next summer, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies identified as key targets for potential free transfers as reported by Madrid Universal.

While it is still unclear whether Real Madrid will sign new players during the January transfer window, the club is showing significant interest in bolstering its defensive ranks for the future.

Recent reports suggest that Real Madrid has made significant progress in securing Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies.

According to sources, the Canadian full-back and Los Blancos are close to reaching an agreement for a potential move in 2025. However, Real Madrid’s bid for Davies could face competition from Manchester United.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg reported that Manchester United has entered the race to sign Davies, considering him a top defensive priority for the summer of 2025.

The Red Devils have reportedly begun gathering information on the likelihood of a transfer to Old Trafford, though it remains to be seen if their efforts will be fruitful.

Despite this potential competition, Real Madrid is still considered the favorite to land Davies.

The player is thriving under Bayern Munich’s new head coach Vincent Kompany, but there have been no recent developments in contract talks, leading to speculation that he may leave Bayern on a free transfer.

While Bayern Munich are said to be open to discussing a contract renewal with Davies, all signs currently point toward an exit.
