Chelsea are closely monitoring ‘amazing’ striker despite Nicolas Jackson’s good form

Nicolas Jackson’s form may not change Chelsea’s transfer plans for 2025.

Nicolas Jackson has started the season in excellent fashion, scoring two goals against West Ham United over the weekend.

His brace at the London Stadium took him to four Premier League goals this term, meaning only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz have netted more times than him.

Nevertheless, it looks like Chelsea could still look to sign a new striker next year. Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres is one centre-forward who’s been linked to Chelsea.

Chelsea tracking Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins
Ollie Watkins was excellent for Aston Villa last season, and it seems his form did not go unnoticed.

The 28-year-old scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in 37 Premier League appearances, which seemingly caught Chelsea’s attention.

According to CaughtOffside, the Blues are closely monitoring Watkins as they look to sign a new striker.

The same outlet claims that despite how well Jackson is playing at the moment, Chelsea are still planning on bringing in another centre-forward in 2025.

During the summer, Chelsea were linked with Watkins’ Villa teammate Jhon Duran. According to the Villans’ president of football operations Monchi, Duran wanted to leave Villa Park.

Jhon Duran a more likely signing than Ollie Watkins for Chelsea
Most Chelsea supporters would probably say yes to Watkins. Again, the England international was fantastic for Villa last season.

“He’s amazing,” his manager Unai Emery told TNT Sports back in April. “Because he’s a really hard worker and his commitment to work every day is amazing.”

However, if Chelsea are to sign a forward from Villa in 2025, then Duran seems more likely. The 20-year-old has already shown a willingness to depart Villa Park, while he is not currently a starter under Emery.

And with Watkins at Villa, that is unlikely to change. If Jackson maintains the form that he is in, though, then the Colombian would also find it hard to displace the Chelsea star.

Despite Duran’s lack of starts this season, the Villa man actually has the same number of goals as Jackson.
