Tottenham heads to Old Trafford in a pivotal match, as both clubs aim to recover from slow starts to the season.
Manchester United has managed only three wins out of eight games, collecting seven points from five Premier League matches, which mirrors Spurs’ tally.
However, unlike Erik ten Hag’s squad, Tottenham secured a comfortable 3-0 win in their Europa League opener. Despite the victory, it may have come at a cost, as Son was substituted after taking a knock.
He received treatment on the field following the team’s third goal and was replaced by Timo Werner.
After the match, manager Ange Postecoglou commented on Son’s situation, saying, “I haven't spoken to him. He said he felt a bit tired but I haven't spoken to him or medicals yet.”
If Son’s injury sidelines him for the weekend, it would be a considerable setback for Spurs.
The South Korean star has featured in every minute of Tottenham’s Premier League season so far, netting two goals. His potential absence could be even more damaging given that Richarlison has already been ruled out.
Throughout his career at Spurs, Son has faced Manchester United 18 times. Interestingly, he has lost more games against them (11) than any other club, though he has scored four goals in these encounters.
