Fenerbahce lose 3-1 to Galatasaray
Mourinho labelled 'The Crying One'
Hired by Turkish side in the summer
WHAT HAPPENED?
Mourinho's Fenerbahce were on the receiving end of a 3-1 defeat at home to rivals Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday. Dominik Livakovic's own goal gave the visitors the lead and Dries Mertens made it 2-0 in the 28th minute. Gabriel Sara added a third in the second half, rendering Edin Dzeko's penalty moments later a mere consolation.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Mourinho wasn't happy at full-time and ditched his post-game press conference. Galatasaray very much enjoyed the Portuguese coach's frustration, sharing multiple posts on social media mocking the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss. One post featured a photoshopped image of a book titled 'The Crying One', with Mourinho in tears on the front cover.
"On sale in stores around Kadıköy," Galatasaray's message on the post read.
TELL ME MORE
A rather brave journalist attempted to show Mourinho the post on his phone as the 61-year-old left the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium. "Are you serious or are you joking?", the irritated coach replied before storming away.
🚨 "Ciddi misin, şaka mı yapıyorsun?"
👤 Derbi sonrası basın toplantısına katılmayan Jose Mourinho, stat çıkışında Galatasaray'ın kendisiyle ilgili 'The Crying One' paylaşımı hakkında sorulan soruya sinirlendi.
WHAT NEXT FOR MOURINHO?
Fenerbahce will now turn their attention to the Europa League. They face Union Saint-Gilloise in their opening league phase encounter on Thursday evening
