Heading into the transfer window, Leny Yoro’s name was linked to Manchester United, yet a deal felt difficult to do.
Real Madrid were seen as heavy favourites, before Manchester United came calling. Yoro’s head was turned, and he has not looked back.
While Yoro pushes to return from a pre-season injury, the French defender has been speaking about his spell at the club so far.
Yoro says United are the biggest club
Leny Yoro spoke to Rio Ferdinand for TNT Sports, and he has explained how he has been left blown away by the size of Manchester United.
In yet another snub to Real Madrid, Yoro insists there is no club quite like United, and he has even admitted he was a little taken aback by the sheer scale of the Red Devils.
Yoro explained: “The club is the biggest in the world. The history, the fans, everything is big here.”
Asked by Ferdinand whether it was like he expected, Yoro admitted the size of United still took him aback.
He responded: “Bigger, bigger. I don’t know if I was ready to do this, but I will now complain, you know. It’s really good. The fans, the stage, you know, everything is good.”

Leny Yoro on his strengths
A metatarsal injury sustained during pre-season has left Yoro sidelined to begin the season. He is not expected back for another couple of months.
This has meant the only time United fans have seen him in action so far was the 45 minutes against Rangers and 20 minutes against Arsenal, before he picked up his injury.
Asked by Ferdinand to describe himself as a player, he responded: “I try to be intelligent on the pitch, to play with my head.
“To understand the game, the opponents, and to be calm. To be calm with the ball, and when I defend.”
Yoro’s deal was followed by United signing Matthijs de Ligt. This was always the plan, to add two centre-backs in the summer window, and it has been smart, amid the Frenchman’s injury.
United have enough cover for now until Yoro returns, with Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans remaining as back-ups too, while Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire compete with De Ligt for starting places.
When Yoro is fit, it will add to a selection headache for manager Erik ten Hag, one he is glad to have after last season’s injury crisis.
